About the Role
SYSO has an immediate need for a NOC Systems Engineer to join our Operations Team. NOC Systems Engineers help ensure that SYSO’s portfolio of renewable energy assets are monitored 24/7/365 and that controls systems are performing as efficiently as possible. Candidates for this unique role will have a passion for clean energy and the vital technology that empowers it. NOC Systems Engineers manage and troubleshoot various communications protocols across multiple battery energy storage system (BESS) control systems and across multiple markets in North America. Training sessions in a virtual classroom setting will be provided in addition to immersive operational instruction. Attention to detail, organizational skills, and proven experience in a similar capacity will be essential to the success of this role.

Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate with internal teams to implement daily operating strategy for each renewable energy asset
Monitor and troubleshoot network connectivity across SYSO’s network of client assets
Configure and respond to hardware and software alerts to optimize asset performance
Respond to dynamic storage asset availability by updating market offers promptly and accurately
Maintain daily asset performance logs
Support SYSO’s 24/7 network services coverage and take part in a rotation of on-call shifts
Fully understand contractual and regulatory issues relating to the regional grid operator, our clients, and other parties
Represent a team who strives for operational excellence and first-class customer servicePerform other duties as required
Required Qualifications/Skills/Education:
Bachelor’s degree in technical field or equivalent experience in electrical or software engineering
Proficient in computer networking hardware and software
Working knowledge of TCP/IP Networking and troubleshooting tools
Experience using automated monitoring and alerting tools such as Grafana, Datadog, SolarWinds, or similar platforms
Experience or coursework in energy sector, specifically the electric power industry, distributed energy resources, energy management, and related technologies
Passion for team collaboration and customer service
Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Ability to apply creativity and objectivity while solving technical problems
Desired Qualifications/Skills/Education:
Proficiency using command line interfaces for Linux or Windows
Knowledge of MODBUS or other industrial protocols
Experience with process improvement methodologies
Familiarity with Salesforce or similar CRM platform
